Move More makes strides with HRM

We’re delighted to be supporting the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine in the communications for Sheffield’s Move More Month, which has returned this month!

As its name suggests, Move More is all about making it easier for people to move more, while also enabling them to record their physical activity levels via the ‘Move More Sheffield’ smartphone app, which can be downloaded on all smartphones.

People across Sheffield recorded more than six million active minutes in 2018 – and organisers have set a city-wide target of 10 million in 2019.

Everybody can get involved in Move More Month – with businesses across the city having been invited to take part in the Workplace Challenge, as companies are challenged to find fun and social ways to engineer physical activity into the work environment.

We’re in the thick of things both during and after the month itself, providing PR, communications and video support to widen the scheme’s reach and help get the city moving.

Move More Month is part of the Sheffield ambition to become the most active City in the UK and is overseen by the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM), a collaboration between universities, healthcare trusts, local authorities and private and voluntary sector organisations.

Professor Robert Copeland, Director of the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM) and Move More, said: “Move More is all about improving the lives of people who live and work in this great City of Sheffield through physical activity. Increases in our use of technology to aid tasks of daily living and motorised transport mean that it’s very easy to spend significant parts of our day sat down, especially at work.

“The Move More Workplace Challenge is about finding fun and social ways to incorporate movement into our daily routines be that at home, school, work, or in any walk of life.

“There are countless opportunities for people to engage with Move More this month and beyond, and we welcome everyone to come together to achieve something special in 2019 and help make Sheffield the most active City in the UK.”
